"if you have vista or 7 do not use the disk (maybe xp too?)" 2009-08-05
By sam houston (LA, CA)
after trying forever to get the old bluesoleil software that came with it to work right with A2DP stereo audio and the headset mic, i installed/uninstalled several times..and downloading the upgrade..(but they charge you @ $30), and trying to get the vista drivers to work a few times (plugged but didn't play)..it didn't seem like it was going to work out. it seemed to work for everything but stereo audio and the mic wasn't working either. so eventually aluratek got back to me and said to just install it without the disk. so i was like, ok, they confirm it's supported, so i'll uninstall everything again and give it a go. this time it did install all the drivers it needed. so it does work. it took a while to figure out how to switch the audio back and forth between speakers and bluetooth. unfortunately you can't switch it with the mixer, you have to do it in the control panel => sound => and playback. (i put a shortcut icon on my desktop to that menu for convenience). so then you right click on the list of devices to get a menu and check "show disabled" so that you can disable the bluetooth headphone when you are not using them. i haven't found an easier way. vista won't send the audio to two devices, i.e. the speakers and bluetooth, it could be simpler but it's not that bad with the shortcut. the broadcom driver on my xp netbook has a quick connect option from the bluetooth icon in the system tray. but in vista, it seems if i try to do it via that icon, (goes to the control panel bluetooth settings), if i change those options they are lost and i end up having to unplug the dongle and replug it so it "finds new hardware" and reinstalls the drivers like they should be. so yeah, it was a pain, but i got it for [...] after rebate, and the one i bought before for [...] didn't support A2DP at all. so i finally have my system set up like i've wanted it, cheap. maybe this will save somebody else some time. it used up a lot of mine figuring it out. without knowing all this, i'd give it like a 1. if i were buying it with all this explained i'd give it a 4. and for [...].

 "Unreliable for AV" 2008-05-22
By Adam (Pittsburgh, PA)
My problems started with the unopenable package. Documentation and tech-support are lacking. The device/software is erratic when used with a headset (iogear gbmh211w6 on WinXP) -- it doesn't consistently recognize the available services or direct the data appropriately.

"Muzee Radio - The Radio for the New Millenium" 2009-08-09
By Edward Balen (Bradenton, Florida)
I love my Muzee. I received it last Christmas. I previously had my XM-PCR on my computer. Because I knew I was getting a Muzee, I canceled my subscription with XM. When I had XM on my computer, I was paying $14.95 per month. Now since I have my Muzee, it's just the opposite.

Here's the straight dope between XM and Sirius and the Muzee. With Sirius and XM, you need to pay for the equipment and subscribe to the service. Another thing about Sirius and XM is you need to use an antenna for the incoming satellite feed.

On the other hand, the Muzee is, for the most part, FREE. All you need to do is purchase the Muzee dongle and plug it into a USB port on your computer or laptop. Of course you need an active internet connection for the Muzee. Beyond the purchase of the dongle, the service and content is totally FREE. No additional software or hardware is necessary.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the fact that XM and Sirius are just limited to the channels on the satellite fed receiver. I remember the channels numbered just about 200 or so. Whereas the Muzee, since it operates from the internet, gives you access to tons more content than XM and Sirius provide. Consider this, XM and Sirius give you about 200 channels. The Muzee gives you roughly 13,000 stations worldwide. These include AM stations, FM stations, and many high-definition stations. Since no external antenna is needed, the radio signals come through clear as a bell.

I know that the XM-PCR was discontinued due to piracy. I used to use Wave Studio to record from my PCR. The Muzee has recording capabilities built into the software. You can record anything off the Muzee in WMA format. Hence, you can play it back on Windows Media Player, or convert it to AAC format in iTunes.

If you want the best radio you can find, forget the other radios you know. In fact, sell or just get rid of them, and get your hands on a Muzee. You will be glad you did.

 "INCREDIBLE, AMAZING PRODUCT!" 2009-08-08
By James Palermo (CT, USA)
I cannot rave more about how awesome this product is and must be tried out to believe. There is so many music stations to choose from to listen to. Regardless of what music style you like or from whatever country it is sure to be here and the best part you can save to your hard drive in WMA (Windows Media) format and then transfer/convert however you like. Beats paying $15 a month for XM or Sirius and with more options and portability! There are no fees after you buy this product. That means no activation fees and no monthly fees. Virtually a plug and play product extremely easy to learn, within a few very simple steps you will be up and running. Take it wherever you go, laptop or desktop. It fits on a keychain!

"great for WinXP, trouble on Vista, and doesn't work on Win7" 2009-09-24
By Daniel Conaway (Glen Ellyn, IL United States)
Bought one for myself and gave several away as gifts ... works fine on WinXP machines, but failed miserably to operate on nephew's Vista laptop and never was able to get it working on my new Win7 PC. Maybe updates will be coming, but mine sits unused now.

"Waste of money ! Does not update itself or let you update it !" 2009-08-26
By A. E. (NY United States)
This USB Jukebox is a waste of money. First of all, all these stations are free on the internet so you can just go to their pages and play them. You can also add station to most of the software players out there. All that this product does is to have a list with many stations.

Besides the fact that it just provides something that is available for free, the most important drawback of this is that if the radio changes the URL (address) and sometimes they do the jukebox doesn't work anymore !

How stupid is that? Make a device that is just a glorified list of radio stations, and not update it every time it connects to the Aluratek server ???????

The stations I was interested in changed their addresses and now this USB jukebox is just junk!

Stay away and save your money.

 "Simple To Use" 2009-08-18

I know I can find stations on the internet without this product but it is so easy to use. It was a good 20 dollar investment. My only complaint is it doesn't tell who the artist is.

"Works as advertised, but pay for free content" 2009-08-05
By L. Brownfield (Ohio USA)
The product is just as advertised, except that I was prompted to install software. However, I think it was just an update to software I currently have (flash, active x, etc - can't remember). Furthermore, it seems to me that the same radio stations can be found for free on the internet without payung for this product. This just makes them easier to find. In the end, I don't mind paying the low cost for this product. Also, just FYI, a mac compatible product is coming out soon...
